About

Located on the Schofield Farm property at 2203 North 111th Street in Erie, Colorado, our mission as an inclusive nonprofit makerspace is that we will empower people of all ages with workspace, tools, education, and collaboration. We foster creativity, innovation, and lifelong learning in a supportive, welcoming community.

We envision a dynamic hub of creativity and innovation, where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to learn, collaborate and express themselves. Through access to tools, space, mentorship and a vibrant community, we empower individuals to explore their passions, develop new skills, achieve their creative or technical goals, and bring their visions to life. Committed to sustainability, community engagement, and entrepreneurial growth, we strive to foster a culture of curiosity, resilience, and shared success—positioning us as a leader in the makerspace community.

Our makerspace will be:

  • Membership based: We plan to cultivate a dedicated group of members who regularly engage with the makerspace. Having access based on a regularly billed membership model helps a makerspace define a clear community of users. Members will also be our instructor base so that we can offer workshops and classes for the extended community. The memberships will be offered in monthly and annual rates, still to be determined.
  • Community / Volunteer Run: We will operate on a “community owned” mindset where the makerspace is largely operated and maintained by community members and volunteers. This both reduces operational costs for the makerspace and fosters a stronger sense of community where the makerspace is “built for the community by the community”.
  • Access and Exploration oriented: We are committed to providing access to equipment and tools where the dominant usage mode is “member self-served”. An orientation process will be in place to ensure our members are aware of how to operate the equipment correctly and safely. After completing an orientation, our goal is for Members to be granted 24/7 access to its tools and resources to complete their various projects.

Classes, workshops, and tool trainings occur regularly during designate scheduling windows. These are typically experienced volunteer led sessions.

This model will allow our makerspace to successfully operate with very limited staffing while still providing strong outcomes for the community. As the makerspace grows and gains substantial membership we hope to expand services beyond this initial model by hiring staff that can provide operational and programming support for more guided experiences.
